Frequently Asked Questions How do I choose a class for my child? The age recommendations outlined for Kindermusik have been carefully constructed to best group children in an age- and developmentally-appropriate way. If you have concerns about your child's success in a particular age range, we are happy to discuss your child's needs and to work with you to place him in the class best suited for him. You are always welcome to try different classes until we find the perfect fit. May I attend a class to see if we like Kindermusik? Yes! we encourage and welcome visitors to attend a FREE preview class. Between semesters, we hold demonstrations that allow families to get a taste of Kindermusik. During the semester, we also allow visitors; however, please call or e-mail us first, so we can make sure to have materials prepared. Where do I park? There is no free parking on campus. There is metered parking at the East end of the Academy building, or you may purchase a one-day visitor pass from the Community Music and Dance Academy office down the hall from our room.
What does it mean to be on the waiting list? Occasionally someone has to withdraw from class. Being on the waiting list allows you to move directly into spots that become vacant. Additionally, once a waiting list has 4 students on it, we will do our utmost to create another class for those families. We have had very popular class times with wait lists evolve into two separate full classes over the course of a semester. After taking these actions, if we are still not able to accommodate you, we will recommend another program to you and provide you with as much information as we can pertaining to their class schedule and contact information. How do I make certain that my materials will be available at the first class? Register early! If we do not have your registration form and deposit by at least two weeks before the start date of the first class of the semester, you may not receive materials at the first class. Can I join the semester after it has already started? Yes, if space is available. Of course, tuition will be pro-rated for the remaining classes. What if we have to miss a class? Although we do not offer refunds for missed classes, we do allow families to make-up the class missed by attending one of the other classes for that age group. If you know you have to miss, please let us know ahead of time so we can arrange a make-up class. What if I have to bring a sibling? We are now offering Family Time to allow you to enroll more than one child in the same class, and siblings are always invited and encouraged to be a part of "Sharing Time" in Imagine That! We encourage you not to bring siblings to other classes (excepting special circumstances and emergencies) in order to allow you to focus your attention completely on the enrolled child. However, if circumstances will require you to bring a sibling to a class other than Family Time or Imagine That!, please call us. We may still be able to work something out. Can my spouse, grandmother, etc. come watch the class? Absolutely! Spouses and relatives are always welcome to attend (and participate). What should we do with our At Home Materials? Play, sing, fill in the hours of long rainy days! Enjoying the home activites, listening to your CD, reading your books, and playing your instruments adds tremendously to the benefits of the class experience. In fact, families frequently tell us that their Kindermusik CDs are family favorites. Part of the Kindermusik magic is making music a part of your everyday life; that is why you receive At Home materials. What if I can't afford Kindermusik? We are open to making special arrangements to make Kindermusik attainable for your family. In addition, we have a limited number of scholarships each semester. If you would like more information about a scholarship, please e-mail us or call. |
